The goal of the Bio-Chem Hackathon is for participants to compete using their quick thinking and knowledge of biology and chemistry in a time-limited question-and-answer format.
2. Participants
Any student of the University of Miskolc may apply.
The competition is open to individual participants or pre-registered teams (1–3 members).
By registering, participants accept the competition rules.
3. Competition Format
The game master will ask questions related to chemistry or biology.
Each question must be answered within 20 seconds.
Answers must be submitted in the manner specified by the game master (verbally / in writing / via a digital platform).
Answers submitted after the deadline will be invalid.
4. Scoring
- Correct answer: 1 point
- Incorrect answer: 0 points
- No answer (time exceeded): 0 points
In case of a tie, lightning questions will follow, with a 10-second response time.
5. Types of Questions
- Definition explanations
- Recognition or completion of reaction equations
- Short calculation tasks
- Quick logical reasoning based on chemical-biochemical knowledge
- Multiple-choice questions
6. Prohibited Activities
- Using external assistance (phone, notes, internet)
- Communicating with other teams
- Manipulating or delaying response time
Violation of the rules will result in immediate disqualification from the competition.
7. Announcement of Results
Results will be based on the total scores from all rounds.
The winner of the final will receive the Bio-Chem Hackathon Champion title and associated prizes.
8. Other Provisions
The organizers reserve the right to modify the competition format.
In case of disputes, the jury’s decision is final.
The jury consists of members of the Imre Csizmadia College.
