Industrial internship
Regulations regarding the internship:
In accordance with the curriculum requirements, students are obliged to participate in internships, regardless of whether they are enrolled in full-time or part-time (correspondence) study programs.
According to the BSc curricula, after completing four semesters, students must complete a four-week internship. Following the sixth semester, they are again required to undertake a four-week final internship. The final internship must be carried out at an industrial company, in a professional field corresponding to the topic of the thesis. In exceptional cases, the internship may be conducted at a university department, but in such cases, the thesis topic must be related to departmental research.
According to the MSc curricula, after the first year of studies, students are required to complete a specialized internship. During the final semester, students must carry out a concluding internship while preparing their diploma thesis. The final internship is two weeks in duration and must be demonstrably completed at an industrial company in a professional field corresponding to the diploma thesis topic. In exceptional cases, the internship may be carried out at a university department, but then the diploma or thesis topic must be connected to departmental research.
The location of the internships, the definition of the tasks, the monitoring, and the certification of completion are the responsibility of the respective supervising departments. The completion of the internship must be certified in writing by the industrial partner (or, in exceptional cases, by the relevant university department) to the coordinating specialized department.
For part-time students, it is possible to certify the internship at their workplace, but only if the student’s daily activities are related to the educational objectives of the program.
If a student fails to complete the internship, the required internship must be fulfilled during the next available internship period. During the academic year, a maximum of two internships may be completed consecutively in the summer period. The repetition or replacement of an uncompleted internship requires the approval of the academic advisor. The reorganization of repeated or missed internships is always the responsibility of the specialized departments.
The replacement of internships is subject to a fee.
