Final Exam Information
Information on the Final Examination
Based on the Organizational and Operational Regulations of the University of Miskolc, Volume III – STUDENT REQUIREMENTS SYSTEM, Chapter III: Study and Examination Regulations, Annex concerning the Faculty of Materials and Chemical Engineering (Section 26).
At the Faculty of Materials and Chemical Engineering, the final examination period takes place every year in December or January and/or in June. A supplementary examination period may be announced by the Dean of the Faculty.
- Procedure of the Final Examination
During the final examination, the candidate defends their Thesis/Dissertation (BSc Thesis / MSc Diploma Thesis) before the Final Examination Committee. Following the defense, the candidate must take an oral examination on professional knowledge related to the Thesis/Dissertation. To successfully pass the final examination, the oral part must also be graded at least “satisfactory.”
Duration of the Final Examination in the BSc program:
The recommended time is 30 minutes, of which 15 minutes are allocated for the defense of the Thesis, and 15 minutes for answering professional questions.Duration of the Final Examination in the MSc program:
The curriculum of the Faculty of Materials and Chemical Engineering emphasizes a project-oriented approach. Therefore, in the MSc final examination, the Committee should aim to allocate at least 20 minutes of the 45-minute session for the defense of the Diploma Thesis and discussion of related questions, while the remaining 25 minutes should be devoted to the oral examination of professional knowledge connected to the Diploma Thesis.Duration of the oral part of the Final Examination:
MSc program: 45 minutes – 20 minutes for the thesis defense and 25 minutes for oral examination based on the given topics.
BSc program: 30 minutes – 15 minutes for the thesis defense and 15 minutes for answering questions related to the topics.
Calculation of the Final Examination Result
For MSc programs:

Where:
DT = result of the Diploma Thesis defense
FE = result of the oral part of the Final Examination
GPA = average of the grades of the courses listed in the Diploma Supplement
For BSc programs:
