The Purpose of the Foundation

The aim of the Foundation is to maintain, foster and further develop the scientific and professional standards introduced by Professor Dr. Dániel Diószeghy – the first university lecturer of “Combustion Technology and Industrial Furnaces” at the University of Miskolc, and the first Head of the Department of Combustion Technology – in order to ensure that university students acquire these subjects at a high level and practice them in a creative way.

It also strives to raise the standard of education at the Faculty of Metallurgical Engineering of the Heavy Industry Technical University of Miskolc, and to train a professional workforce for the aluminium industry.

The Foundation supports the improvement of the infrastructure and the supply of instruments and equipment at the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, as well as the financial assistance for the publication of textbooks and teaching aids.

To enhance the development of young faculty, the Foundation provides moral and financial recognition to lecturers and researchers under the age of 40 for their outstanding work.

It also supports the active participation of lecturers and researchers at domestic and international conferences and study trips, as well as the organization of various faculty events.

The Foundation encourages and assists student initiatives that coincide with its goals and are not supported by other foundations.

Finally, it seeks to raise interest in Hungarian non-ferrous metallurgy, to assist the work and development of students who feel called to advance the technologies of non-ferrous metallurgy and semi-finished product manufacturing, and to support research conducted by students or young lecturers aimed at gaining deeper expertise in the science of non-ferrous metallurgy.
