Mission Statement
The fundamental mission of the Faculty of Materials and Chemical Engineering at the University of Miskolc is to pursue both the fundamental sciences dealing with the structure, properties, and behavior of various materials (specifically metals and their alloys, ceramics and silicates, polymers and plastics, as well as composites made from these), and the applied sciences focusing on the manufacturing and processing technologies of these materials.
The Faculty’s objectives include the collection, systematization, expansion, application, and dissemination of existing knowledge—both to our students and to the national and international scientific and technological community through conference presentations and publications.
In addition to the core fields of materials science and technology, the Faculty places special emphasis on issues related to materials informatics, materials testing, energy management, waste management, environmental protection, and quality assurance.
Within the framework of chemical engineering education, we concentrate on meeting the needs of the chemical industry in our region, as well as on the development, structural, and compositional characterization of polyurethane materials initiated within the organizational framework of the FIEK (Centre for Higher Education and Industrial Cooperation).
Beyond scientific activity, the Faculty considers it a key priority to maintain close cooperation with local schools, institutions, and industrial companies related to the profession, to ensure the availability of highly qualified professionals for the region, and to encourage talented young people to remain and build their careers locally.
